Packing my Room

Hi friends!

I am moving! Not to another webpage or another city, but to a house! The very first house I've ever lived in! I'm very excited. I can't wait to move into my new room. But, first things first, I had to pack.

My new neighbor, Kanani, came over to my old apartment to help me pack.

First, we decided to pack the things on my desk. Since it's summertime, I won't have any schoolwork to do for awhile!

Kanani put all my books away...

...and then my pens, pencils, and money. "Charlie!" she mused. "You really shouldn't leave your money lying around!"

"Or my cookies!" I said as she picked up the ever-present box of Oreos from my desk. "I better go put these with the food in the kitchen."

The box with my stuff got fuller!

"Look, your desk is almost empty, except for Norman!" Kanani said.

"Norman goes in the car, along with me and Rory. No box for him!" I said. "Now time to pack my nightstand! I guess my phone can go in here for a bit."

I put everything from my nightstand in the box - my alarm clock, my ring, my picture frame with Margot and I in it (before she cut her hair!), and my plant!

Once that was all done, I packed up my clarinet. I couldn't wait to make music in my new house!

"Wow..." Kanani said.

"...Look at all this stuff! We've packed up a lot, Charlie!"

"And we're not done yet!" I added. After that, Kanani helped me fold up my bedding.

Then I said, "Check out this big box my mom gave me for all my toys and books! It's huge."

First we packed up all my figurines and games...

...then we added my books...

...and then Kanani helped me get the toys off of my wardrobe by standing on a chair to reach them (don't tell my mom and dad!).

Finally, the box was full, my toys were packed, and it was time to take my decorations off of the wall.

"Thanks for helping me, Kanani!" I said.

"You're welcome!" she replied. "I can't wait until you're all moved in and we can play together all the time!"

"Me too," I said. "Me too."

Have you ever moved? Do you live in a house or an apartment? Let me know in the comments!

Sewing Class with Isabelle

So today, my friend Margot and I went to our friend Isabelle's house. Isabelle just moved here at the beginning of this year from the East Coast! We both attend Ballet West Academy after school, and that's how we met. You'll see our dance class another day; today, we went to Isabelle's house to learn to do her other favorite pastime - sewing!

We opened up Isabelle's studio, and set our own sewing machines on a table.

Margot went to work picking out fabric from Isabelle's stash. She has lots of fabric to choose from!

"Try it on the dress form first to see if it will work with the project you're doing," Isabelle suggested.

Soon, Margot picked out some fabric...

...we got our supplies in order...

...and Isabelle set up her sewing machine to show us how to sew!

"Okay, I think I've got this!" I said.

So we went to our sewing machines and starting making our project, with Isabelle's supervision, of course!

"How am I doing, Isabelle?" Margot asked.

"Oh, Margot..." Isabelle said. We both waited anxiously - were we doing it right?!

"It's wonderful!" Isabelle exclaimed.

"Yours too, Charlie! You're a natural," said Isabelle.

Isabelle walked back over to her machine. "Okay, guys," she said. "Are you ready for the finishing touches?"

We watched Isabelle and followed along...

...and our project started to take shape!

"Alright, ladies, now let's see your projects!" Isabelle directed.

"Those are some awesome shorts!" she exclaimed, throwing her hands into the air. "Great job!"

"It wouldn't have been possible without you, Izzy!" said Margot.
"Yes!" I agreed. "Thank you, Isabelle! I can't wait to wear my new shorts!"

"Oh, girls!" Isabelle said. "That's what friends are for!"

I loved learning to sew with Isabelle! Have you ever had a friend teach you a new skill?
