Family Tree Decorating with Abby

Greetings, everyone!

Sorry for the delay in posts! I had family visit for Thanksgiving and things have been hectic around here getting ready for the holidays! Speaking of, today I'm going to show you how my sister Abby and I set up our special kid-sized tree this weekend. I played Lalaloopy babies with Abby to pass the time while we waited for the tree to arrive.

Mine had a cherry pie theme! Abby calls her Cherry, naturally.

Abby's was an ice cream themed baby that she calls Sweetie.

"Girls! Your tree is here!" my mom called.

"Oh boy!" we exclaimed, dropping the dolls on the floor.

"Wow! Look how pretty the tree is, Abby!" I shouted.

"Let's get to decorating!" Abby said.

"Let's do it!" I replied.

My mom had piled the decor on the floor - ornaments, lights, and of course, the tree topper!

"Let's start with the lights," I said.

"I want to put up lights, too!" Abby said.

"I have to help you with them," I replied.

"Be careful!" I said, guiding the lights along the branches.

It looked so pretty all lit up! Next, we added ornaments.

Once the ornaments were put on the tree, it was nearly complete.

"Help me put the tree topper on!" Abby said. I picked her up and she slowly raised the tree topper to the top of the tree.

"It's beautiful!" I said.

Next, our mom brought a table into my room and set it down. She thanked us for all our hard work and cooperation and told us to stay put for a special treat. I couldn't wait!

It was a full breakfast just for us! Cinnamon rolls, sausage, bacon, eggs, orange juice, and our Elf on the Shelf!

We enjoyed the cinnamon rolls together and discussed what kind of trouble the Elf would get into this year.

This is definitely a tradition we will continue every year!

Do you have any Christmas or other holiday traditions?

  1. Aww, your Elf is adorable! Have you decided on a name for him (or her?) yet? I can't wait to see what mischief he gets into this year.

My mom's side of the family is Polish, so we borrow heavily from Polish traditions when it comes to celebrating Christmas. We often wait to decorate our tree on Christmas Eve, although sometimes I'll put up my own tree in my dorm room at school first (so my friends and I can have our annual holiday party before I venture homewards).

    1. Hello Sophie!

I think our elf's name is Reginald. He's quite the distinguished fellow! Your Christmas traditions sound really fun. I always love hearing about how others celebrate the holidays! Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!
